I was first exposed to neurodiversity in the classroom as an undergraduate researcher at the Institute for Child Development at Binghamton University. I went on to earn a Masters in Social Work at Columbia University where I gained a deep understanding of social systems and how they can be optimized.

Masters in hand, I headed down the corporate path with a career in corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion recruiting. While working grinding hours, I read a book that changed my life: Overcoming Dyslexia, by Sally Shaywitz. I realized that if the principles of social work were applied on a micro-level to education, the positive impact on the most vulnerable learners could be tremendous. Deeply inspired, I left the rat race for a career in education and never looked back!

• Consulted for San Francisco private schools, with a focus on working with teachers to more effectively reach students with learning challenges

• Authored a lecture series titled “Neurodiversity in the Classroom”

• Worked as a professional development speaker helping administrators to establish internal systems that promote teamwork and effective communication
